What to do when you finish your Master's Thesis?
All finished theses and possible related electronic agreements are submitted to the faculty. The UEF Library works in collaboration with the faculties and receives the theses from the faculty. As a candidate, it is up to you to decide whether the thesis is published only accessible from the campus libraries or if it is published as an online Open Access publication. Open Access publishing is the recommended choice, for it improves sharing and accessing scientific information. Open Access publishing requires you to sign a publishing agreement. You can find more information about the Open Access publishing concept at the UEF Electronic Publications service and on the Open UEF web pages.
Starting from the year 2012, UEF Master's theses are accessible in electronic format via the UEF Electronic Publications service, upheld by the University of Eastern Finland. There are two different types of these so-called e-theses: freely available online versions (Open Access) and e-theses only accessible via the e-thesis computer workstations inside the UEF Library facilities. The author of a thesis decides the limitations to the use of their work.
You can observe the Open Access percentage of UEF theses at http://libapps.uef.fi/thesisOA/
OPEN ACCESS E-THESES
Theses available freely on the Internet can also be downloaded on personal computers or mobile devices for offline use. It is also possible to print them. More information about the Open Access publishing concept can be found at the UEF Electronic Publications service and on the Open UEF web pages.
E-THESES AVAILABLE ONLY AT THE CAMPUS LIBRARIES
University of Eastern Finland campus libraries have separate computer workstations that allow you to access Master's theses that are not freely available online. These computers can be used to take paper copies of the theses – printing costs can be found at the library's list of fees. Creating digital copies (incl. storing on USB flash frives) or forwarding the files as attachments is forbidden.
