Master AND EXCHANGE students

Information skills and sources for international students – courses (1 cp) are primarily targeted for the students of UEF master programmes. Exchange students are welcome to courses if there are any vacancies- check the course status from WebOodi.

The courses cover basics of scientific publishing, library services, databases and other sources of information and an introduction to searching techniques.

Choose the correct course according to the faculty you are studying, and in case of Science and Forestry in Joensuu campus, according to the master programme you are participating in.

Postgraduate students

For postgraduate students the library provides the course Research information retrieval and management, 8022020 (2 cp).

The course consists of seven modules: 1) the basics of information retrieval, 2) discipline-specific information retrieval, 3) reference management, 4) publishing, 5) research impact assessment and bibliometrics, 6) research data, 7) researcher visibility, networking and altmetrics

Student optionally selects at least four of these modules. Several modules can be conducted fully online.

This course replaces the former course Information skills and sources for postgraduate students in the academic year 2017-18.
